Liberty, equality… and intimacy, if you please?
In a country like France, where art de vivre goes hand in hand with gastronomy, culture, the search for meaning, and passion, the French are constantly reinventing intimate relationships as well. This is what Maïa Mazaurette explains in Le Monde, drawing on a recent IFOP/Gleeden survey. In France, more and more couples are exploring the path of the “open relationship.” Not out of rejection of romance or simply out of a desire for novelty and change, but from a desire to seek authenticity, open dialogue, and a form of love that aligns with personal desires rather than conforming to a rigid doctrine, always through communication, exchange, and mutual respect.
This choice, far from clichés, illustrates a distinctly French approach: preferring nuance over norms, experimentation over rigidity, curiosity over routine, and attentive listening over silence.
Behind this evolution lie strong values: trust, respect for each individual’s autonomy, and the desire to build evolving, customized relationships. In our view, the French art de vivre is also this: a way of being that is both free and fair, and a way of loving with an open mind, one that doesn’t abandon the elegance of emotion, and always honors respect for the other.
